LITIGATION ASSISTANT RECRUITMENT

The Honolulu office of Earthjustice, a national public interest environmental law firm, has an opening for a Litigation Assistant. The Honolulu team consists of four attorneys, one part-time counsel, the litigation assistant, and the office manager. The Litigation Assistant is primarily responsible for providing litigation support for the attorneys.

Duties include: preparing, formatting, filing and serving pleadings and exhibits with the courts and governmental agencies; maintaining the litigation calendar, and pleadings, case and press binder files; drafting simple pleadings, letters, and appeals documents; and other support functions. In addition to litigation support, the Litigation Assistant provides secondary administrative support.

Job qualifications include: excellent command of spelling, punctuation and grammar; highly organized, dependable, and able to work under pressure with great attention to detail; and knowledge of federal and local rules of court.

Necessary capabilities include excellent computer skills, proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, the Internet, and e-mail, and the ability to juggle and follow through on a variety of tasks while maintaining accuracy.

Two years of civil litigation support experience, advanced level Word and intermediate level Excel skills are required. Interest in environmental issues is highly desired.

Salary for the position is based on experience.
