Faculty: Use this handout to show students how to use Email via MyCourses in MyUH. Modify this handout to meet your particular course and student needs.
Email via MyCourses
Launch Internet Explorer Browser or other browser.
Go to KCC Website: www.kcc.hawaii.edu
Click on "MyUH Portal" (lower right-hand corner).
Login:
Enter UH Username
Enter UH Password
Hit ENTER or click Login
Click on "My Tools" Tab to see your list of courses "My Courses".
Be sure to select appropriate semester and year, i.e., "Spring 2007".
A list of courses you are enrolled in will appear.
Click on a specific course title (i.e., LAW 146).
You are now at the "Course Homepage" for that specific course.
Your "Course Tools" menu appears at the left.
Click on email and a list of email members for a specific course appears.
To email all members listed, click "Select All".
Unclick the checkmark for individuals you do not your message sent to, i.e., your instructor or department secretary, "Lee-Ha, Brenda". When done, click "Send Email".
To send email to one or more members, select their checkboxes and click "Send Email".
At the "Compose Email" window:
Do not type any email addresses in the TO or CC sections unless you want other recipients to receive the email. Anything you type in these fields will be visible to other recipients of the message.
Although the selected members' email addresses are not displayed in the BCC box, the message will be sent to them automatically.
Always enter a subject line beginning with LAW xxx, (W), xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Type your message in the Enter Message box (you may want to do a spell check).
To add an attachment, Click on Attach
- Click the Browse button to select the file that you want to attach.
- Click the Attach button (you file should now appear in the box on the right with the total current message size).
- Attaching other files? Repeat steps 1 and 2 above.
- Removing any attached files? Select the file from the list on the right and click the Remove button.
- If listed files (in the box on the right) look ok, click on OK at the bottom. Your attached files should now be shown at the bottom of your email. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CHECK TO SEE IF THE ATTACHMENTS ARE LISTED AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR E-MAIL MESSAGE.
- Click Send. You will see a message that # messages were sent.

WHEN DONE, BE SURE TO LOGOUT!!
If email is unavailable through My Courses, use UH Web Mail (see separate handout) to view your @hawaii.edu email and to send email (you will need to type in email addresses; no bcc to course members is available through this method)
